Our Materials and Supply Chain

At Sustene, health and sustainability are not marketing lines  — they are why the brand exists. We believe you shouldn't have to choose between clothing that fits and clothing that is made with materials and processes you can feel good about.

Organic Pima Cotton from Peru

Peru has a rich history in textile making and Pima cotton production dating back to ancient times. Pima is one of the longest-staple cottons in the world, valued for its silky, cooling hand feel and natural durability. The organic Pima cotton used in our garments is grown in Lambayeque, Peru using natural fertilizers and pesticides that are healthier for farmers, the soil and local water supply. This cotton is also hand-picked, which is gentler on the crop and the land, and creates jobs for local communities.

Clean Processing

The fabrics used for our garments are dyed and finished without azo dyes, PFAS, heavy metals, or formaldehyde. Your skin is the largest organ on your body, and it is absorbent. The skin on your vulva and vagina is particularly sensitive and absorbent, and deserves extra care when it comes to the materials that come closest to the skin.

Safe & Fair Labor Practices

Our manufacturing partner’s labor practices are third-party audited, including for safe working conditions and fair wages.

Vertically Integrated Supply Chain

Most brands source from a chain of separate suppliers and rely on a long paper trail to document raw materials and processing standards. Our manufacturing partner controls or otherwise partners closely with every step of their entire production chain in Peru — from the cotton farm through ginning, spinning, dyeing, and cut-and-sew — that includes material inputs, labor and farming practices. That means full traceability and
no gaps between where your cotton is grown and where your garment is finished.

Small-Batch Production

We produce in small, intentional batches. We'd rather make less and make it right.
